We are committed to stop the painting of our youth as “Yahoo Boys”, says Minister of Youth & Sport, Sunday Dare #EndSARS

Minister of Youth & Sport, Sunday Dare, visits IGP to discuss on SARS +  to stop painting our youth as ‘Yahoo Boys’

Minister of Youth and Sport Development, Sunday Dare, visited the inspector general of Police, Adamu Mohammed, today October 5, 2020.

This morning I visited the IGP for further discussion on the activities of FSARS and the need to end the harassment, profiling and dehumanization of our youth by some bad officers. IGP gave strong assurance in deep reforms, sanctioning of officers and protection of the youth.

The strict enforcement and implementation of the recent ban of FSARS and similar squads alongside the need to allow the youth go about their legitimate activities formed the core of our meeting this morning.

Among other things, it was agreed that a Youth-Police Townhall meeting series across the country should commence soon under the watch of the MYSD. These meeting will serve as a check on the relationship between the two before things deteriorate. This is an early warning system.

Government is unequivocal that that the police brutalities against our youth must stop. I am happy about the commitment of the IP of Police to ridding the force of bad eggs but more, to stop the painting of our youth as “yahoo boys”. President Buhari is also fully committed to our youth.
