Court restrains INEC & PDP from preventing Governor Obaseki from participating in Edo Primaries

A High Court of Justice in Ekpoma, Edo State restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from removing, excluding, preventing or purporting to exclude Governor Godwin Obaseki or any other aspirant who have been cleared by the party from participating in the PDP primaries, scheduled for Thursday, June 25.

Recall that one of the PDP aspirant , Gideon Ikhine stepped down for the Governor Yesterday, but Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama has refused to step aside and join the Governor. And he (Ogbeide- Ihama) approached the Federal High Court, praying the court to issue an order barring Governor Godwin Obaseki from participating in the coming primary election . In his defense, only those who purchased the governorship firms within the stipulated times should be allowed to participate.
